LSOF: Scripture Memory Verse #19!!!

My number #19 verse came out of the blue late last night. It was a totally different memory verse, but after a series of events, I just felt it clear to my heart that this one needed to be about memorizing the ” shield of faith”

Last night, we prayed on twitter against spiritual warfare.

Along with this verse I just want to add this; because its the only thing I could remember last night in praying:

1. God is who He says He is.
2. God can do what He says He can do.
3. I am who God says I am.
4. I can do all things through Christ.
5. God’s Word is alive and active in me.

Read this verse people, memorize it, meditate on it…we need to remember how to stop the fiery darts of the evil one,
he is very real, and he wants to mess with our lives…we need to be prepared!

betrayed

taken advantage of

We always do before we know what to do

Ephesians 3:20

Two dimensions of spiritual revelation we desperately need to have:

1- In our human encounters
2- Can I trust what I am sensing?

Here are four question we can ask ourselves:

1. Am I critical or suspicious by nature?
2. Am I jealous or feel threatened by this person?
3. Do I have anything selfish to gain from the outcome?
4. Are my emotions clouding my discernment?

Phillipians 1:9-10

Learn to love others with knowledge and insight.

2 Timothy 3

Do not confuse living people without the discernment to back away from them.

2 Timothy 3:6

We gotta learn to go with our spiritual gut.
We can’t walk in the spirit without walking in intimacy.

Show me a Godly woman I’ll show you a woman who persued Godliness.

Did the spirit within me remain steadfast?

Ephesians 3:20-21
Connection- Ephesians 3 to last two verses, it was done on purpose.
NOW(Consider the ability of God)to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

Ephesians is a Prison Doxology; Praise and honor to God, while Paul was in prison.

John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

NOW to us is the time to write in SPITE of what I’m going through. Now is the time to turn unto Him!

We spend more time worshipping the problem then worshipping our God.

In spite of everything going on around us, like Kay said, ” Fix our eyes on Jesus”

He is just not able, or willing, but can turn around in His diety and sympathize and do something with you.

One in a million: Able to believe God without caring what is going on around.

2+2=4 always. Wherever you are from.

Its our business to believe he can, its His business that He will.

We seem to always want the miracle that is tangible for us right now.

The focus was on the book of Hebrews.
Beginning with (Hebrews 1-2)

Jesus is up in heaven praying for us.

His throne is forever, and He is the Everlasting God, Eloheim, Alpha and Omega, and hates lawlessness.

To go deeper still: Fix our eyes on Jesus.

We live in a world of ” Icabod” which means, ” Glory has departed”.

Your faith is going to be tried and tested to the core. Our place of eniquity is overflowing.
God can’t let these things continue.

Rest of Faith: Taking the Word of God, and a heart fully set upon Jesus.

Hebrews 10 (Nero reigned in 54-68 A.D)

If persecution comes because you will stand for God, are you prepared?

v.32 – Remember the former days when after being ” enlightened” (saved, change you mind towards Jesus)

Do you remember the rejection in your life?

(She talked about here about being 29yrs old, and trying to convey the Bible to her family, parents caused conflict.)

If it becomes a crime to speak the Word of God in the USA, are you willing to go to prison?

vs. 34- Don’t throw away confidence.

If you know the Word of God, it’s laid out everything.

My righteous one will live by faith if He shrinks back my soul finds no pleasure in him.

Hab 2:7

Living by faith is living word of God.(Romans and Hebrews)

vs.38-39- But we are not those who shrink back to destruction but those who believe and are saved.

Hebrews 5 vs.14- You are not gonna know truth unless you know the God YOURSELF!

The people of this time did shrink back in 3 ways:
1- suffering
2- They weren’t constantly growing
3- They were just trying to be good people, and do good deeds.

Hebrews 6:10-12

In this day and age, we don’t have to wait for anything, we want everything in a hurry.

57% of evangelists make their decisions based on the Bible.

Rest of Faith: Uniting Word of God with faith for that situation.

Knowing what God says, and walking in obidience.

okay so, I have SOOO much I would love to share in my heart right now, but I am just so overwhelmed, and speechless pretty much, so what I am just going to say is for now just what sweet people I got to see and meet:)

Mama Moonflower-Jan(Georgia Jan), my dear friend again:)- I so missed her, and I was so glad to see her again. There are some people that enter your life for God’s very moving purpose, and she has been one of them:) I was glad for the time of conversation:) Love her!

My sweet friend Shelly(To Know Him)- If y’all don’t know this girl, she is so sweet! she is the greek and hebrew translation guru:)
It was really nice to meet her, she is a long time siesta like myself, and meeting her face to face, it just was awesome:)
It showed me a true friend:) and I am blessed to know her! Love you Shells!

A siesta named Daimy:) She was sweet!

Tim Wolfe, a friend of mine whose on Z88.3- I have known this guy since 2001:) He was the one that quoted me,
” When Jesus is all you have Jesus is all you need.” and it was great to just spend a few talking to him again;)

Pam and Paige from Lifeway Events:)- They are busy people:) but it was great to meet them!

Amanda Ober(Channel 6 news)- I remember Amanda from when I worked at the drycleaners in Orlando long ago, we got talking about doing Beth Moore studies, and just talking about Jesus:) It was cool.

My friend Alli from when I worked at Victorias Secret- It was like a needle in haystack she was like across the next seats from me:) A good friend of mine, who has had the same struggles as myself over the years, and we are always trying to meet up, and she just happened to be at Deeper Still:)

OH, did I forgot to mention I met Beth Moore? Oh, sorry about that!-
She is so precious, and she handled that mob of people so graciously, but through
the crowd, It was a blessing to know she knew who I was:) Not in a million years
would I have thought she would! So blessed!

I am just going to say a word of scripture here, because when I finally do post, this is the verse that is so on my heart after listening to the conference today.

My memory verse#3 (Isaiah 40:26)
” Lift your eyes and look to the heavens; who created all these? He who bring out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name, because of his great power and mighty strength not one of them is missing.”

God knows us, maybe the world doesn’t, but God does…and He will let those in on knowing who you are:)
This weekend proved that!

Right now, at this moment, it is well with my soul…because whatever happens, my God has a hold of it…as He does for you too!

LSOF: Grasping Humility Part 2 ” The Message”

I read an amazing book awhile back called, ” Reaching For An Invisible God”- (its a must read for anyone, with questions or without)
There was a part in one of the chapters that told a story of a pastor that was to give a message to a room of people less fortunate in a physical way.
The pastor walked in confident about his message he was about to give, he thought it was simple,
” I’ll just let them know they are victorious where they are regardless of the wheelchairs they are sitting in.”
However, when he gave the message, expecting smiling faces…he noticed that there were only blank stares.
A woman came up to him after everyone had left and said, ” We don’t understand what you mean, we don’t understand it at all.” and she walked away. The pastor was left stunned.
So he decided to try another time, he started to prepare and research, but something just didn’t stick; he found himself in front of those same people with almost the same blank stare they had given him.
Finally he spoke, ” I am sorry, I don’t know what to say, I am confused without a message of victory.”
The same woman spoke up from the audience, ” Now we can understand you, now we can listen.”

I began with this story, because I felt that in order for us to grasp how we can be humble in listening and learning from all messages; is to realize that the person up there giving it is human.
This person gets up in the morning, and he sits down and starts to research the next part of his message.
He has read several books around the room, and he has greek and hebrew translation, as well as concordance by his side. Perhaps, he has commentaries of certain book of scriptures. He has most likely not just one translation of the Bible but two or more. He has spent hours going through every resource possible to prepare a message that is as less about him as possible.
He gets up there on Sunday, after spending 30-hr praying that God’s hand would be on him and help him deliver the words he is to speak. He has had to forget about the car breaking down an hour before, or the phone call he got the night before of his sick relative, or the fact he wasn’t able to get much sleep because the message he was going to give really hit close to home.
Taking a breath he greets and asks you how you are doing, maybe talking about something previously during praise and worship or a conversation he just had with a fellow member.
Regardless, he lets God take the stage through him.

Did you ever hear, ” Always give a penny to the poor, because it might be Jesus in disguise.”?
Well, that was something I was taught as a child. I know now that it can most relate to Hebrews 13:5,
” Don’t forget to entertain strangers for some have entertained angels without knowing it.”

Did you ever think your attitude even listening to the message at church was a test of faith?
We aren’t just there to sit and learn, we are there to take God in. It is a privelage in itself!

You may not quite understand exactly what I mean, because some of us were raised to just ” deal” with the messages. It isn’t about ” dealing” with them at all. It is about loving Jesus enough that you want to hear it.

And whether you realize it or not, what you learn every Sunday is to be applied into your own life. You are to be the teacher of what was taught to you. You are an example just as much as your pastor is.
You are an example of Jesus. Isn’t that enough to want to sit and listen to a message regardless of what its about?

I hear people say sometimes, ” Well, that message wasn’t really for me today.”
Have you ever said that?
And what if I said it was untrue.

EVERYTHING God ordained in our lives was placed by God for us to hear, and if we are hearing it, then God wanted us to!

This part of humility is not just about respect to our God, but it is the difference between being a ” Hold my hand across the street” Christian to a ” I can walk across on my own, but I still need the counsel at my side.” Christian.

What I have learned from the verse memorization that I am doing with the LPM blog is that I no longer need someone to hold my hand for me to ” find” the words God wants to speak to me.

Instead of sitting in your seat on sunday thinking about what you are doing right after service or whatever you may be thinking; I encourage you to force those thoughts out of your mind in the name of Jesus until the service is over.

So you say your church is 2 hrs long with their messages. Do you know that there are some countries that would die literally to just hear the word of God for 30 seconds?

We have as a nation come under the belief that its okay to put God on the backburner. He most definitely does not belong there, or inside a cute little box.

When a message is spoken, we need to be willing to listen, and expectant for a blessing.

Word of God WILL speak.

LSOF: Grasping Humility Part 1

I am going to try to actually write a message here; I am not a scholar of anykind, but I do believe the Holy Spirt has better words than I do, and it just so happens that He’ll be speaking for me today:) Or at least I’ll do my best to make it as LESS ABOUT little me as possible! and MOST ABOUT Him:)

This has just been spinning around inside my heart for a few days now…so much so that this message will come in three parts:) Today you get the 1st:)

I titled this ” Grasping Humility”, for the reason that I believe we sometimes all have a hard time trying to figure out if what we are doing or saying is about us, or Him…we see straight and clear and then all of a sudden like we have walked into blinding fog.
We forget who has control.

Looking back in the Gospel of Matthew 26:36-43
Jesus goes with Peter a two others away from the rest of the Disciples.
“My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.”

He knew he would be crucified, He knew that THIS was his calling, and he knew that the oppurtune time was about to arrive.

“My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”

Right here, we see that Jesus was showing a human tendency, he was offering sweat and tears of blood if instead he might ” not” have to do the whole job as Savior.

I’ve never had children, but this particular thing makes me think of childbirth.
I’m told when the mother gives that one last push before the baby comes, it is the most
painful of all of them.

But that push brings a brilliant miracle.

Just as Jesus dying for us did.

I wonder at that moment if Jesus had a vision of what the world would be like if he didn’t do what he was called to do.

He walks over to the disciples to find them sleeping when he told them to keep watch. It irritates him, and he basically just says, ” One hour is all I asked and you fall asleep…you guys better keep watch because you don’t know how much the flesh can overcome tonight.”

I think he hears his own words to them, and he thinks about it for a moment as he walks back to go pray.
” This isn’t about me.”

He gets back on his knees, and says,
“My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done.”

Basically saying, ” Okay, if I have to do this,
then I humble myself before you to be in control…I’ll die if you need me to.”

This part is always so hard to take in, because its hard to imagine the God of the universe would love us enough to send his only son to die for us. And the fact that he does it willingly.

Now with that said, think about praise and worship at church.

You hear a song being played, and you think to yourself, ” I already know this one, and they play it all the time.” or ” This song is not my taste in music, can’t they ever play something upbeat?”
or ” Why is that person singing that song, they sound horrible.”

I know you are reading this thinking, that’s pretty negative, but what if I asked,
” Have you heard people have thoughts like this?”

I liked what Beth Moore was saying in ” Believing God” in regards to worship,
” God sets the tone of our praise.”

To be a people of humility, we have to realize in regards to worship that nothing about it is about us.

I’ve heard time and time again that this person or that person went to church after church trying to find one with the right music for them to get into worship.

Umm…why?

A church is a building.

What I mean by that is we have to learn to see beyond the music, we have to pay attention first to the words.

And God has SO changed my own heart on that.

I used to love to hear certain songs, and other times be like, ” Isn’t that one over yet”
but God has taught me that music isn’t for me in the first place, and I need to be active in my worship to Him, instead of being active in worship for the way it makes me feel.
Its not about feelings.

It really isn’t even about the words being sung, its about where the foundation of all of it comes from.

When I first became apart of my church, I walked in one day and saw words on the screen as the praise team was practicing. I noticed ” Psalm…” was typed at the bottom of the screen.

I asked ” Why”.

I learned for the first time that the words I sang at church, came from the Bible.

I think that is what will help us keep our focus. If we concentrate on who spoke those words.

” We are pressed but not crushed, persecuted not abandoned, struck down but not destroyed, we all blessed beyond the curse because his promise will endure and his joy’s gonna be my strength”

Does this sound familiar, its the song, ” Trading My Sorrows” and I was SO excited to recognize the same words when I read them in the Bible:)

Yep, if you didn’t know it is in the Bible, 2 Corinthians 4:8-9

So next time your standing for praise at church. Maybe think of those who have stood before you.
Maybe think of that 80 year old woman who prayed to ask Jesus into her life when she was 6 years old,
and remembers, ” How Great Thou Art” like the back of her own hand.

Or picture the teenager sitting a few rows away from you who you knew just started to come to church with his family, who was used to very traditional music, but when you glance at him he seems to just almost smile because he is so content with the worship music. And it leads him to be called to be a Pastor later in life.

Or that baby in the backrow the seems to cry through the entire message, but sleeps soundly in her mother’s arms during the music.

My Pastor had profound realization for us to hear, that the song we were singing, were not songs at all, but they came from someone’s heart. Psalms of the heart.

Sunday morning, I encourage you to walk into church, find your seat, and not right away talk to everyone, but sit down and just be still…then when the music starts…you let HIM know
You are there to praise him.

Nothingelse matters.

If you can do that, one sunday at a time; ” everything else will fade like the flowers”

The focus will be what is the most important.

ON HIM ALONE.
