LSOF: What to Wear

I happen to be a pretty big fan of the show, ” What not to wear”, so its interesting what came to my mind a couple hours after watching it.

I was just lying in bed just now thinking, how great it would be if I could just clothe the word of God all over my body? then a half a verse popped in my head.

Colossians 3:12

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”

1 Peter 5:5

“Young men, in the same way be submissive to those who are older. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

Galatians 3:26

” You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.”

In Greek, ” Clothe” also means to tie together.
So to be clothed with Christ would mean to be tied together with Him.

Its hard to remember sometimes though isn’t it? We forget how close Christ really is in our lives. Its hard to keep that thought on our sleeve daily.

I’ll be honest and tell you its hard to think of anything to write when there is a unsurmountable amount of stress around, it just is. It makes me so angry at the Enemy, because I don’t want my joy taken away so easily.

I was reading ” Breaking Free” a little bit yesterday, and Beth Moore described the 3 main ways the Enemy can get to us. One of those main ways was being oblivious to him lurking around.

So to be clothed with Christ meant to be tied together, so we already know that the Enemy is going to attack, just because of the name in which we belong;
from there we have to add something to that attire.

The Armor of God

Ephesians 6:10-18

10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Notice how much the word ” full” seems to be emphasized from the beginning. God wants us to make sure to be ready to use the whole package!

14Stand firm then, with the belt of truth

(I am going to say truth being what is real about Christ, and the word) buckled around your waist,
with the breastplate of righteousness ( Oh Romans sister, I hear that book calling out)in place,
15and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
( 1 Peter 5:8 “Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”)

Basically, just be READY to stand for what you believe whether you are tested by the enemy or by another non-believer.

16In addition to all this,
take up the shield of faith
Come on now,
” God is who He says He is, God can do what He says He can do, I am who God says I am, I can do all things through Christ, God’s word is alive and active in me…”
, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

17Take the helmet of salvation
( Our hearts no longer hardened by the worldly defeat, but they are solid to the touch now by spiritual gain.)

and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

I had no idea that would go so in depth, but after seeing it in bold, doesn’t it make you feel like there is nothing that can bother you?

As with all clothes, we have to make sure everything fits, and that is teh same with clothed in Christ, we have to make sure we know what we believe.
Because the sword of the Spirit isn’t going to be very sharp when we use it, unless we know and can testify to what it says.
Remember the Enemy knows the word too.

I still would like to just paste the word to my body anyways, a little extra for my journey 🙂

Have a great day you guys:) Be Blessed!
