LSOF: Stand in the gap

Hello there:)

I am sitting here in the middle of Educational Psych, but I wanted to take a few minutes to write.

My dog was just in here a minute ago; and I watched him quit grasping for my attention(praise the Lord), and noticed him look up at my fish swimming around in his bowl.

I have to tell you, my cat Boo, she never has once paid attention to this fish; and let me just emphasize she is a CAT…

I have such strange animals..

Anyway, it got me thinking. (What doesn’t.)

How often do we seem to take our faith for granted? I know that sounds harsh, but really, don’t you find that to be true sometimes.

I mean non-believers seem more interested in God at times then we do?

They are more interested in proving He’s not real..but still there is interest.

But how much energy to we use in helping prove He is? That really spoke to me.

I was at church last sunday, and I had the whole aisle to myself( I think I mentioned), and during praise and worship for an announcement we were asked to be seated. Then once they were done the music started again..

No one got up; I didn’t look behind me, but I felt my body start to rise on its own, and I was afraid of being the only one standing; for fear of people thinking I wanted attention; I got it out of my mind closed my eyes and stood up; I was a little shaky, but opening my eyes I saw slowly others stood too.

My only message of my heart is to always stand for God, and to stand for others when they can’t alone.

My church has this thing they do every sunday morning, where a couple people go and pray over each empty chair in the entire room.

If you think about it that is such an amazing thing to do, because who knows who would be sitting there? God does.

We have to quit being so narrow minded as Christians, and be more open-minded, we can’t be there for others if we can’t try to see where they are coming from. We have to know people, we just have to.

I could go on and mention what Beth Moore said on her blog, but I am not going to, because I don’t want you to read this and think of her,

( Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely think she’s awesome)

I want you to read this and think of Jesus, think of every time He served; up until the end.

I haven’t always been the best servant, close friends of mine will tell you that, but showing God’s love on people, its the rewarding thing to the heart, it really is.

So preach it! Share it! Live it!

Salt and Light
Matthew 5: 13-16

13″You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.
14″You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
