LSOF: When his defenses are down…

Hello.

I almost had to laugh at the title of this devotional, because I am fighting somekind of cold or something, and my defenses are down; health-wise.

I am great with my faith though, and usually that isn’t the case when you aren’t feeling well,

at least that is what my friend Lori told me years back, and I have grown to realize from experience.

I emailed my Pastor yesterday, as you know that we have been doing a message on

” Putting on the full armor of God…” and told him that the message has stayed with me.

I have seen that verse everywhere the last couple weeks in Eph 6, and definitely could not chalk it up as coincidence. God just doesn’t work that way.

Eph 6:10
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

I love the scene in the movie, ” Revelation.”

It is just after the Apocalypse, and it is the time where Christians are being targetted like the Holocaust;( if you haven’t seen it, definitely keep it in mind to watch.)http://www.christiananswers.net/spotlight/movies/2000/revelation.html

Thorold Stone is a man whose wife and daughter disappear from sight, and after some issues with the anti-christ, he comes to the point in his life where he is searching for something more, somekind of answer, he meets a group of underground Christians.

Helen Hannah, and he are sitting at a table, and she asks him why he chooses not to believe, and he says because God hadn’t shown himself.

” Even if he did, you wouldn’t believe it.”

The interesting part is after he says this statement above in the picture to make the glass tip over; nothing happens, and then he gets up from his seat out of anger and the chair hits the table causing the glass to fall.

Eph 6:11

Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

Anyway, satan is pulling out everything out of the hat with the rabbit!

Most of you know I work overnight, and today while I was trying to sleep;

Lawnmower, motorcycle, music, hammering, dog barking, phone ringing, and family member yelling…and I guess I can add the fact I don’t feel well.

So of course I was like, okay, not going to let this get to me; no big deal.

I check myspace, and see a message from a guy that I haven’t talked to in years, he asked why I quit talking to him; when the reason was he thought my faith was weird and quit talking to me. He was just bad news.

Eph 6: 12

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

After I got the email from him I was like, ” Okay, now I know why I have seen that verse so many times, because God was preparing me for even this moment.”

It also showed me that obviously the enemy was desperate, because of all that little chaos…

I won’t be shaken.

God is in control.

Now Daniel so distinguished himself among the administrators and the satraps by his exceptional qualities that the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom. At this, the administrators and the satraps tried to find grounds for charges against Daniel in his conduct of government affairs, but they were unable to do so. They could find no corruption in him, because he was trustworthy and neither corrupt nor negligent. Finally these men said, “We will never find any basis for charges against this man Daniel unless it has something to do with the law of his God.”
Daniel 6:3-5 (New International Version)

Honestly, I love my quiet times, and even when we don’t feel well, if we aren’t well enough for church or anything like that, we need to try to press in and just spend time alone with Him.

He is the great healer of all things.

I hope you have a good day, and I noticed no one mentioned but my favorite part of the bible is a study now; Beth Moore wrote, ” Stepping up onto Psalms of Ascent.” and I think I may just have to buy the leader kit for my birthday.

Psalms of my HEART:)

Have a good day.

Much love,

angie

Eph 6:

13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

14Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,

15and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

16In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

17Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.

  1. Hey! I’m so sorry that you’re not feeling good! If we lived close by I would soooo bring you some comfort food and lots of laughs!

  2. I concur with the last sister comment, we would so bring your soup. Keep on being lead by the spirit, it is coming straight through your writing.

  3. Praying you will start feeling better soon!

    Angela
