Good early Sunday morning….and yes it is an early one.
I am still too sick to go to church in the morning, so this post is going to be the closest thing to it.
I was watching ” Aquire the Fire” on television a bit ago, and Ron Luce was talking about preparing the way for Jesus, and one of the words that caught my attention was, ” amplify”,
as we are to amplify our voice for Jesus.
I knew it was a word that God knew I needed to hear.
Tam mentioned in a comment awhile back that I am being taken through such a season right now, and I definitely believe it.
I mean for one, I am sick with the flu, that followed other infections…and I know it was because God wanted me to slow down….let things procede by His steps alone, and not mine.
So there is that word again, ” amplify”- by definition:
1. to make larger, greater, or stronger; enlarge; extend.
2.to expand in stating or describing, as by details or illustrations; clarify by expanding.
3.Electricity. to increase the amplitude of; cause amplification in.
4.Archaic. to exaggerate. –verb (used without object)
5.to discourse at length; expatiate or expand one’s remarks, speech, etc. (usually fol. by on): The preacher amplified on the theme of brotherly love.
I loved the part of the definition that described it to be like electricity…that’s so very cool.
Now we got the dictionary example, let’s look at Strongs….since I couldn’t find amplify, I looked up loud in Hebrew translation:
Loud: gadowl (gä·dole’)
a) large (in magnitude and extent)
b) in number
c) in intensity
d) loud (in sound)
e) older (in age)
f) in importance
1) important things
2) great, distinguished (of men)
3) God Himself (of God)
One of the ways the Lord speaks to me sometimes is in simple words, usually I have to look deep into it more, but I would say that’s the point.
If you ever heard of the song by Crystal Lewis, ” Satisfied”, I wrote out that title on a piece of paper on day, and meditated on what it really meant to be satisfied.
Here are some words we hear all the time as Christians….but what if I put them by themselves..
– Caramel Vanilla Latte’:)
I used to write my prayer journal with titles, as if I was writing a devotional, but more that I went to God with a plan, I always felt like it I went to Him with something specifically it would make it easier for Him. I mean how couldn’t it right?:)
What I am getting at is, we all have gifts, we all have special things we do, because they were called for us to do, by God.
Look at this word and think of a spiritual gift you have been given, or if you don’t know, its usually not too far from something to think is a hobby; God has plans.
Now say whatever it is aloud, for example, ” Writing”- a form of creative communication, which is my spiritual gift. And then add, ” Lord, I will amplify….(the gift)…and prepare the way for Jesus.”
Do you see how more awesome adding amplify to your gift, giving your gift a voice, beyond what you had planned? Because face it, you were fine just doing what God asked you to do, and didn’t really plan on taking it to another plain…
God always has other plans.
We aren’t meant to be ordinary, we have Jesus inside of us, and with Him we can do anything!
Its not always easy for our voice to be heard, but if you pay attention to the definition of ” amplify” next time; God already has your back.
I love you, and I pray that this day gives you room to amplify your voice for Jesus!
So they read from the Book of the Law of God distinctly, faithfully amplifying and giving the sense so that [the people] understood the reading.
And Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said, Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit! And with these words, He expired.
Lets make our commitment to doing exactly that!
