LSOF: At last

I was reading LPM blog and Melissa’s response to her coming in third.

It got me thinking of the story of the Rich man, because he was asked to give up his possessions, in my heart I can also hear in between the lines for him to choose to be last.

But I also remembered during the bible study, ” Jesus, the One and Only” we were asked to write the encounter as if we were there.
So I went to my book case, and I brushed off the dust, sneezed a little, and opened to the page, and this is what I wrote:

” I came up to this man Jesus. My servants were getting together my things. As I waited I stood next to him jokingly I said, ” Good Jesus, how can I have eternal life?”
Right away this man looked at me and disciplined my words. He said that I was to give up all I owned.

All my life I thought I had what I needed, and now this man claims there is more to it. I am ashamed but I will not give up all I have.

I looked one last time at this man, and looking at the ground walked away.

I could feel Jesus stare at me as he continued to speak with the others.”

I also got thinking of this:
” Our resources are finite, but our time is infinite.”
and in other cultures, ” resources are infinite, but time is finite.”

We are a nation that just doesn’t know how to come last.

I also just finished watching, ” The End Of the Spear” which is about missionaries that go and try to befriend, and minister to a tribe in the Amazon.

The missionaries taught the tribe to not raise their spear to another, but to be humble, and just let things happen. To trust God(who they named in their language)…its an amazing movie.

So maybe that is really the point of this post today…to be last, means to drop humbly before Him, and let everyonelse walk ahead…to be at peace, while the rest is at war. To be rich with humility, instead of material things…

To be last. Always last.

More Is Less
By: Carolyn Arends

We’ve got food that makes you hungry / Drink that makes you sick / We’ve got cars that go in circles / Real nice clothes that do not fit / Here the money makes you paranoid / There’s no one you can trust / The sex will leave you lonely / And the love all turns to rust //

Chorus: This is how the world looks when / We turn the means into the ends / Who on earth would ever guess / Less is more and more is less //

We’ve got sleep that makes you tired / ‘Til you’re worn out and depressed / We’ve got drugs to make you better / ‘Til you feel the side effects Here the dreams will make you bitter /And the truth will leave you cold ‘Cause there isn’t any refund / On the lies that you are sold //

This is how the world looks when / We turn the means into the ends / Who on earth would ever guess / Less is more and more is less //

No one could blame us for wanting more / But isn’t it strange who the more leaves us wanting? … wanting /

This is how the world looks when / We turn the means into the ends / Who on earth would ever guess / Less is more and more is less More is less //
