LSOF: The Hope, The Voice…and what’s meaningless

I have a question for you.
What would you do today, if you knew you would die tomorrow?
Would you be able to say that you did everything in life that didn’t just matter to you, BUT actually made a difference in the world?
After we leave this earth, it will still go on the same way without us.
Will our voice be left in a heart of another, or lost in the wind?

I’d like to think that I’ve made a difference by being open and sharing on this blog, and in the world.
I’d like to think that someone who was very lost has come here and
found some hope.
I’d like to think that someone was inspired to go after something they believed in by my words…
But then I also know, in the grand scheme of things, there is a bigger picture than that.
In the grand scheme of things, while I want to make a huge difference in the world, the epidemic that is very real for all of us will exist always…
The epidemic of HOPE.

There will never be enough food to feed the hungry, There will never be enough money to solve every person’s debt, There will never be complete peace in the world, There will never be enough love to reach every person, There will never be enough things that can be
said to change someone’s life…

It’s MEANINGLESS. All of it.
And I know that sounds harsh, but its very true.
We often forget that HOPE isn’t something WE can bring,
It’s something WE can only teach…and then move on.

There are countries in Africa where people are so far out in the desert that regardless of how much food and water is brought to them, they will still go hungry, people will still die.

I’m just honestly, and truly simply tired that we think that what we DO will make a difference in this world.
It has NOTHING to do with that.

Anyone can go overseas and give someone food and water,
but then what else? What can you give to someone when all of it is gone?

I’m not saying not to give food and water, I’m just trying to help
to see the reality of it all.

Now the word ” inspire”…and its a word that is almost a counterfeit of ” Hope” ,
its not real to someone unless that inspiration creates a voice in
someone else that is THEIR own,
that they learn who they are and what they are about. They believe that God is the center of who
they are. NOT what someone tells them they are like.

Anyone can create an IMAGE. And that image could also very well destroy a person’s life.

And I just have to add along these same lines that, ” American
Idol,” is not a show that is meant to bring hope, it just brings, ” inspiration”….
We tell others to go after their dreams, but a dream is lost when there is no hope to be found
in the first place. HOPE has to start with the heart that walks on the stage, nothing will carry our voice
any further.

Instead of teaching others that they have a ” voice”, how about we start with teaching them that
there is a ” voice” already there and will speak louder in their lives,
God will magnify who they are.

Hope is something we teach to others, and it is from the heart of God.
He wants people to know they will never truly go hungry if we know Him.
He wants us to know that the hearts debt means more than the
He wants us to know that peace isn’t something that will happen around us,
but inside of us.
He wants us to know that love does not start in the arms of a stranger,
but in the arms of a Savior.
And He wants us to know, only HE can change a life…

” All excess is rooted in emptiness.” – Beth Moore

” You can’t negotiate with your false Gods. ” – Kelly Minter

God doesn’t care about WHAT we are. He cares about WHO we are.

Everything is meaningless if the hope of God is not in the same picture.

God will always be there for us, and He will never forsake us.
In HIM, our hope is found.
We can’t find it in fame and fortune,
We can’t find it through a website, just like this.
We can’t find it through watching a video,
We can’t find it by reading a book…

Remember that INSPIRATION, is NOT Hope!
I almost can say that to inspire someone is to give them a dose of medicine
that will last for a short time. Sadly, people can get addicted to this.

Hope is found at the cross. Where Jesus died for you and for me.
Hope is found when you are flat on your face and you don’t know how to face the next day.
Hope is found when you are alone in a room and no one can hear you cry.
Hope is found when you lose everything, and you realize its the ONE thing that’s
going to get your through.

When Jesus is all you have, Jesus is all you need.” – Tim Wolfe

And for those of you out there that don’t know what hope really is, when someone shares with you about faith, about God…when they teach you about His love, His peace, HIS HOPE…
then you need to take what they’ve taught you and seek MORE yourself…
No one can bring HOPE to your life…they can inspire you on how to find it…
BUT NO ONE can bring hope to your life…

If they could.
We wouldn’t need Jesus.

(Ecclesiastes 2:17-26)

So I hated life, because the work that is done under the sun was grievous to me. All of it is meaningless, a
chasing after the wind.
I hated all the things I had toiled for under the sun, because I must leave them to the one who comes after me.
And who knows whether that person will be wise or foolish? Yet they will have control over all the fruit of my toil into which I have poured my effort and skill under the sun. This too is meaningless.
So my heart began to despair over all my toilsome labor under the sun.
For a person may labor with wisdom, knowledge and skill, and then they must leave all they own to another who has not toiled for it. This too is meaningless and a great misfortune.
What do people get for all the toil and anxious striving with which they labor under the sun?
All their days their work is grief and pain; even at night their minds do not rest. This too is meaningless.
A person can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in their own toil. This too, I see, is from the hand of God,
for without him, who can eat or find enjoyment?
To the person who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.
