LSOF: Psalm 86:11- Learning how to walk

I had a friend say to me in conversation the other day, that they had a lot of respect for me, because
I’ve managed to keep my faith in God since I was a child.
It took me back, to little scenes in my childhood.

My mom had dropped me off at the babysitter. I remember I didn’t like her that much, and I think I was pretty rebellious.
But something interesting in the back of my memory from this time.

I had given my middle finger to the babysitter.
She told my mom about it.
And this is what I remember mom saying to me,
“ When you do that, you are saying, “ No” to God.”

I look back, and wonder if she knew how much I respected God even then,
That she often would actually use that to discipline me.
It is interesting to think about.

I do know I have been afraid the rest of my life to ever do it again.
And of course, I apologized to the babysitter.

“ Teach me Your way O Lord, and I will walk in Your truth- Give me an undivided heart that I may fear Your name.” (Psalm 86:11)

Breaking it apart:

“ Teach me your way O Lord”- To live with His heart, His desires, His example.

“ I will walk in your truth”- It will become my daily way of living; through His will, spread the Gospel.

“ Undivided heart”- One that focuses on the same goal. (soul, mind,)
( “ Love the Lord your God, with all your heart, soul and mind.” Matt 22:37-38)
Make it genuine.

“ Fear your name.”- Obey in trembling- He alone is worthy.

“ Guard my life, for I am devoted to you, You are my God, save your servant, who trusts in you.”
( Psalm 86:2)

“ Guard my life”- Keep me from things not of the Lord. Devoted to Him. Live for Him alone. Living on the principle of Mattew 22:37-38.

“ You are my God- Save your servant” – Remember me.

“ The path of righteousness is like the first gleam of dawn.” ( Prov. 4:18)

“ Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the well-spring of life.” (Prov. 4:23)
I have learned that fear over the years more than just that one time.
In my past rebelliousness, I have actually cried tears.

I cried tears I wouldn’t have ever cried for my own family,
When I disobeyed them.

God is more important to me, He is all the matters at the end
Of my day.

If I can please Him, than every heartache is worth it.

I want to be a tree that is constant,
At bearing good fruit.

I am sure you’d say the same

Be Blessed:)
