LSOF: Healed, but still wounds remain

I remember when I got in my first car accident. I was 17 yrs old and it was the summer of 67 counties in Florida covered by wildfires. When it rained the visibility was only about 100 ft. It was crazy. I was leaving from my job and driving a new Mazda RX7 1983 that my dad bought me. It had more power than I knew what to do with or control.

I stopped at the sign. I looked left and right before putting my foot on the gas. I stepped on the gas hard, and immediately the car started to spin. I was scared and I could not regain control.

I saw the truck coming, and he wasn’t stopping. I felt the impact.

I felt my car door open. An old man was standing there asking if I was ok. He helped me out of my car and into his home and sat me down on the recliner. My neck felt numb, my entire body didn’t have feeling.

I knew I had been in a car accident. That is all.

The guy whose truck I hit was pacing back and forth in the kitchen, grumbling.

I asked, ” Should I call somebody?” and  taking the phone I couldn’t remember my parents number. I remembered finally a few minutes before the ambulance got there.

The old man and his wife didn’t leave my side. They stayed to make sure I was ok.

The ambulance came. I was placed on a stretcher and taken to the hospital so they could see the damage done to my neck. My neck ended up being okay, but  I had a bruise that went all the way down my leg.

I was wounded, but eventually the bruises too went away.

I’m sharing this story with you, because I realized something profound to my heart yesterday out of

Psalm 147:3.

” He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”

I read it over and over. It spoke volumes to me.

Think about it friends—- He HEALS the brokenhearted first, and then binds up their wounds.

I think I’ve always looked at the word ” Heal” as something that happens completely, but according to what we read in this verse, its a two step process.

The old man from my accident wanted to make sure I was ok. He stayed with me, and he and his wife calmed me down and helped me remember where I was, and my phone number so I could call my parents.

I believe that is the first part of Psalm 147:3 ” He HEALS the brokenhearted.” —– He makes sure we are okay, He stays at our side and watches how we react to the things happening around us, and He calms us down so we can remember who we are and to go about our day. But its not at this time that we are healed completely of our wounds. You can’t help someone whose unconscious with their wounds until you know they are breathing, and alive. I think God works the same way in the way He brings healing.

I also looked up ” Heal” in the Greek and it means, ” To still.”  He keeps us at peace.

The second part of Psalm 147:3 says, ” He binds up their wounds.”

Can you think back to anything you have dealt with for a long time in your life and you woke up one day and suddenly it was no longer part of your world, it no longer had affect on your life.

That’s what I mean. Once we are at peace with what we deal with then God can work on it and repair what is truly broken.

The process is sometimes not easy for us. While He may be fixing one wound we might be dealing with needing healing from something else.

But its about how we react to everything ultimately.

Psalm 38:11

My friends and companions avoid me because of my wounds; my neighbors stay far away.

I saw this verse the other day, and I really thought about it.

I didn’t understand why with so much going on in my life how the people that were supposed to be closest to me started to dwindle away the worse things became.

But what I realized through everything. People don’t understand our wounds, because they can’t understand their own. We have to let them know the blessings, the positives that come out of what we are going through. As weird as it may sound, people look for encouragement through our pain, they look to us to respond in a way that would help them deal with their situations.

James 1:2-3

Consider it pure joy, my brothers whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work to that you may be mature and complete not lacking anything.

In my current season of healing it feels like things are finally changing course. Now its about getting focused again, and focused on all the things that are set above.

LSOF: The Undivided Heart

We all are given different lives, and different talents. We all have unique areas of ability and strength.
God made us this way to be able to embrace the differences of others in our lives, and we meet along the way.

But our differences are unique to us, the person we meet today may not have a clue to what we’ve been through, and what we are good at…what our passions really are. And that’s OKAY.

I was reading Psalm 86:11-13 the other day, and specifically this part of the Psalm really spoke to me, and even with a situation surrounding my life right now:

Psalm 86:11-13

Teach me your way, LORD,
that I may rely on your faithfulness;
give me an undivided heart,
that I may fear your name.
I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart;
I will glorify your name forever.
For great is your love toward me;
you have delivered me from the depths,
from the realm of the dead.

” Give me an UNDIVIDED heart…”

There are several different ways we could probably try to analyze this verse, but I’m just going to go with what is speaking to me.

Our time, Our passions, Our lives…they are on a different side from another’s. We might sometimes be able to walk across and see apart of another’s life, get to know their heart, and what they are
about, and what interests them…but we cannot stay on their side.
God has a separate plan for them, and for us.

Our time, Our passions, Our lives….where we stand we have to
remind ourselves that God wants us far away from that ravine as

The ravine is the ” divided heart”.

He wants ours to be complete.

He has to know that we are ready to lose everything in our lives, go after what really is important for US to do and accomplish.
We can’t spend our time wrapped up in others lives, talents and passions…

Our time, Our passions, Our lives…they have a voice of REASON in
this world.
And that voice will drown out by the loudness of anothers life in
front of us.

I have met many people over the years. I have seen lives with far more difference than my own, and I have met people who have had such a similar life to mine that I felt like i was looking in the mirror
of my own life.

Our time, Our passions, Our lives…they will have their own reflection.
We see what we want to in another’s life…its called perspective.

I think it was Andy Stanley who said, ” What you put your time and attention to, will become your god.”

We can’t allow ourselves to let importance and value come from who we ” think” we should be,
Our importance and value has to come from who God WANTS us to be.

” Lord, help me to do what I need to do, to be who I need to be for You.”
I’ve said this prayer over and over…its specific and its with intention that He hears it!

God has moved me far away from that ravine. He did it first by taking away the link to the other side of it.

I’m not going to concentrate on, ” Should ofs or could ofs…”
Should-of and Could-of…they link to regret. And I don’t regret the plan God has for me.

It’s about just turning the direction He wants us to move…and MOVE.

God is constant, but our lives will change.

He already knows what He has planned, and He wants our hearts to be inline with that.
He wants us to stop running backwards, but instead chase after our future.

And sometimes we are going to go on this road on faith alone…and not meet a single soul for miles.
And that’s okay too.

We need to keep our hearts undivided….we need to believe He is faithful in every promise He’s given.
We need to trust that He has a plan, and we need to trust the way He goes about it.

Seasons are meant to change,
and we are apart of them.

In Jesus Name.

LSOF: Song of Praise

I am sitting here listening to my audiobook, ” Stepping Up” by Beth Moore.
It is by far one of my most favorite studies, because it is about the cry of my own heart,
Praise to our God!

” We can can think a song is beautiful and memorize its words, and be completely unaffected.”

1 Cor 14:15
” I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind.”

I think of a dear blogworld siesta, Jackie from ” All things are possible”.

She just stays on my heart as one of those people who LIVE in the ” song of praise”, because really what a song of praise is; is a PSALM of Praise!
She knows the realness of the song, ” Mighty to Save”, because she lives knowing that in her daily struggles, that He is mightier than the stronghold.
Jackie is an encouragement to me, and her heart is gold; I am SO excited to see where God will take her in her life.
I remember when the youth at church would sing this song, and the cell phones would be straight in the air, at the part,
Shine your light and let the whole world see
We’re singing, for the glory of the risen king, Jesus
Jesus Shine your light and let the whole world see
We’re singing for the glory of the risen king, Jesus

Even then, I thought of this girl through the hearts of the young ones around me,
because to KNOW ” He is Mighty to Save…” means to KNOW that we are His children.
The more humble we become to REMEMBER who He is, is the more powerful HE will be
in our lives!

I love music so much, but its so much more to hear the words, and UNDERSTAND where they come from, that they resignated in the heart of someone.

Nichole Nordeman:

” So I put aside the mascarade and admit that I’m not okay,
which may not be the thing to say, but I’m not afraid to say
I need you more each day.”( Even then)

” Your love is life to me, my truest longing,
my deepest need, without it one moment
I don’t know where’d I be, because your love is
life to me.”( Your love is life to me)

” I couldn’t face my life tomorrow, without your hope in my heart I know, I can’t
live a day without you, Lord there’s no night and there’s no morning, without your loving arms
to hold me, your the heart beat of all I do…”( Can’t Live a Day)

Meredith Andrews:
“You’re not alone, For I am here,
Let me wipe away your every fear,
My love I’ve never left your side,
I have seen you through the darkest night,
And I’m the one who’s loved you all your life,
All of your life..”( You’re not alone)

I put the title of the song at the end on purpose, because I wanted it to be possible to just read the heartfelt words; the PSALMS from someone’s heart. These are songs that are quite popular, but reading them now word for word…the songs take on a whole different life. LET THEM.

” Better Is One Day” by: Passion- is one of my most favorite songs, because everything and anything I ever encounter in this life, I want to know that there is always a better place, that when I am in HIS presence everythingelse can fade away. And that He will protect me even in the toughest of circumstances.

I’ll leave you with the song.
Which by the way, you can find in PSALM 84:)

Psalm 84
For the director of music. According to gittith. Of the Sons of Korah. A psalm. [a]
1 How lovely is your dwelling place,
O LORD Almighty!

2 My soul yearns, even faints,
for the courts of the LORD;
my heart and my flesh cry out
for the living God.

3 Even the sparrow has found a home,
and the swallow a nest for herself,
where she may have her young—
a place near your altar,
O LORD Almighty, my King and my God.

4 Blessed are those who dwell in your house;
they are ever praising you.

5 Blessed are those whose strength is in you,
who have set their hearts on pilgrimage.

6 As they pass through the Valley of Baca,
they make it a place of springs;
the autumn rains also cover it with pools. [b]

7 They go from strength to strength,
till each appears before God in Zion.

8 Hear my prayer, O LORD God Almighty;
listen to me, O God of Jacob.

9 Look upon our shield, [c] O God;
look with favor on your anointed one.

10 Better is one day in your courts
than a thousand elsewhere;
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
than dwell in the tents of the wicked.

11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield;
the LORD bestows favor and honor;
no good thing does he withhold
from those whose walk is blameless.

12 O LORD Almighty,
blessed is the man who trusts in you.

I want to encourage you to next time you are listening to something that sounds beautiful, LISTEN to the words, and see how beautiful it really is…

Be Blessed:) and go visit Jackie’s site:) She a doll!
